ABOUT SCREENPRINTING
Screen printing is a process of pressing ink through a stencilled mesh screen with a squeegee to create a printed design.
One of the main benefits of screen printing on paper is the vivid colours it produces, which can be tricky to replicate with other printing techniques.
Screen printing ink is typically applied more thickly, resulting in longer-lasting, brighter and more vibrant colours, even on darker backgrounds.
Unlike digital printing which absorbs ink creating a flat surface, screen printing ink lies in layers on the surface of the paper which gives a subtle, pleasing tactile quality.

MEET THE DESIGNER
I’m Fiona Morrison, designer and founder of Meshwell Prints. I’m originally from Sydney, Australia I’ve worked in the graphic design and stationery industry since moving to London in 2016.
I was first introduced to screen printing in my early fashion design studies and decided to try it out again during lockdown to get away from my laptop screen.
I launched Meshwell Prints in 2024 as a way to combine a love of illustration, a desire to work one-on-one with clients and to continue work beyond my computer desk.
Meshwell Prints is now based in my home studio in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. I love telling stories through illustration and I can’t wait to hear yours!
